Trenton Assembly of God was not simply founded—it was birthed in prayer. What began as a small gathering in the home of Rev. Robert Risner and Robbie Watts was the fruit of years of intercession and waiting upon the Lord. God had placed the vision for this church in their hearts more than sixteen years earlier, and in the fall of 1978, that vision began to take root.
The prayer meeting soon outgrew the home and moved into a store building generously provided by Robbie’s sister, Pauline Cobb. For a year they rented that space, trusting God for the next step. In time, the Lord opened the door for them to purchase the property. Later, a church building was raised on the very spot where it stands today—a testimony to God’s faithfulness.
From those humble beginnings, countless lives have been touched. Over the years, people from near and far—indeed from around the world—have worshiped within these walls. Trenton Assembly has remained a lighthouse, shining the hope of Christ into many lives.
In the early days, much of the physical work was carried out by dedicated soldiers from Ft. Campbell, whose hands helped establish the church’s foundation. Since then, six pastors have shepherded the flock. In October 1991, Pastor Mike Dorsey answered the call to lead, and under his ministry, the church has witnessed nearly three decades of God’s power and provision.
During these years, souls have been saved, believers have been baptized in water, and many have received the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Miracles have taken place—healings from diseases and testimonies of God’s grace that bear witness to His living power.
Today, the congregation averages around 100 on Sunday mornings, continuing to grow as hearts are stirred by passionate worship and the anointed preaching of the Word. The Spirit of God still moves in this place, drawing men, women, and children into His presence.
The story of Trenton Assembly of God is still being written. It is a story of prayer, perseverance, and the power of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord continue to bless this congregation, keeping it a beacon of light and a place where lives are transformed for His Kingdom.
